Common Questions - studio newborn session
when is the best time to reserve my newborn session?
It's never too early to book! Because my calendar fills up so quickly, its best to reserve your session as early as possible. I take a limited number of sessions each month so that I can leave space for babies that arrive earlier or later than their anticipated due date. I'm currently booking 2024 due dates, so feel free to send me an email and see what's available!
when is the best time to do the session?
Studio sessions are scheduled between 10-16 days after the baby is born. This allows for baby to be sleepy and posable for the duration of the session. If your little one is older than that timeframe, no worries! It's still possible to capture beautiful photos with an in-home lifestyle session!
How do i book a session when i don't know when my baby will arrive?
When you book your session, I will put your due date on my calendar so that I can tentatively plan around it. If baby arrives earlier or later than the anticipated due date, there is always room to accommodate! Once baby is born, I ask that you let me know as soon as possible so that we can plan a definitive date and time for the session.
How long does the session last?
Newborn sessions often run long due to the nature and frequent soothing of the baby. Expect a minimum of 2-3 hours in the studio. I do not rush the session and allow for baby to take as many breaks as needed. The baby's comfort and safety is my priority.
where does the studio session take place?
Sessions take place in my downtown Puyallup studio, located off of Stewart and Meridian. The studio is very comfortable and I want all of my clients to make themselves feel at home. There is a waiting area and a shooting area. I have a couch in each room for parents and family to relax on. There are toys for children to play and with small snacks for the family. There is a mini fridge stocked with cold water and is available to store breast milk if need be.
do we need to bring anything to the session?
I provide everything for your session! All you have to do is show up! I have lots of bonnets, headbands, outfits and props. I individually style each session and always ask for your input on colors. My style is very neutral, simple and minimal.
If you have something special that you'd like to include in the session, please let me know ahead of time so that I can prepare for it. Whether it be a handmade blanket, heirloom items, sports memorabilia or military/law enforcement items, I will do my best to try and incorporate them into your session.
when/how do we pay?
I kindly ask clients for a retainer to hold their due date on the calendar. I take a limited number of newborn sessions a month so that I can accommodate babies that may come early or later than their anticipated due date.
The remaining balance is due at the end of the session and I accept cash or credit card.
do i receive the digital photos from my session?
Yes! My sessions are all-inclusive and each image is converted into B&W also, so you actually receive double the number of images listed in the package purchased.
Shortly after the session, you will receive a proofing gallery where you will then be able to choose your favorite images.
I then edit and perfect those chosen images and return them to you in a final gallery where you can download them right to your computer or phone.
I allow my clients to print their photos as they wish, but I do recommend staying away from Walmart, Walgreens and Costco. I suggest using the gallery the images are sent with for the highest quality print. They are very reasonably priced and shipping is fairly quick!
I do offer premium albums and printed photo wood blocks at an additional cost as well.
what is your turnaround time on images?
My current turnaround time from the day you choose your favorites is about 2 weeks.
If you'd like a few photos for announcements, please let me know and I can accommodate that!
